The Stay In School Partnership and Graduation Coach Initiative

The Franklin Initiative Stay In School Partnership is a community collaboration aimed at keeping high school students in school and getting them through to graduation.

The Franklin Initiative's Graduation Coaches are trained social workers who work in the schools and meet one-on-one with referred students to identify and overcome barriers to graduation.

Students are referred to the program due to low GPA or credit attainment, serious attendance problems, and/or recurrent behavioral issues.  Assistance can take many forms, including regular meetings, tracking progress, academic advice, alternative programs, home visits, in-school advocacy, and referrals to other service providers.

Each of the three major high schools in Monroe County (Edgewood, Bloomington High School North, Bloomington High School South) has a dedicated Graduation Coach.  For email addresses, please click here.

The Franklin Initiative also offers free WorkKeys© standardized testing and test preparation for high school students to assess their workforce readiness in such areas as Applied Math, Reading for Information, and Locating Information. Students with WorkKeys© certification are better prepared for entry into the workforce and have an advantage when applying for jobs.  If you would like to learn more, or are a high school student who is interested in taking the WorkKeys© exam, please contact us!

The Stay in School Partnership is supported by a generous contribution from the AT&T Aspire program.  For more information about AT&T Aspire, please visit the AT&T Aspire website.

The Franklin Initiative is a partner in the Monroe County Prosecutor Chris Gaal's 'Live Better' community campaign.  For more information about the campaign, please visit the 'Live Better' website.
