Speakers Bureau

We are currently looking for professionals from all career fields to speak with middle and high school students about their career and educational background! Generally these opportunites are in a panel format with multiple presenters, followed by questions from the students. Please contact Matt Wysocki mwysocki@ChamberBloomington.org to learn more about opportunities for you to participate in upcoming speaking events!

Reality Store

The Reality Store is a fun simulation that helps 8th graders connect academic achievement with the kind of lifestyle they envision for themselves after graduation.  In the simulation, students pretend they are 28-year-olds starting out in their career and are assigned a salary based on their actual GPA.  Then they proceed from station to station to buy housing, transportation, groceries, insurance, furniture, clothing, electronics, vacations, utilizes, child care, pets, electronics, and other real-life elements.  Volunteers at each station interact with students and guide them as they make choices about what they need - or don't need - for their household.  Hopefully the students end with enough money left over to put into savings.

The next Reality Store is Wednesday, February 1st, 2012. Several shifts are available. To sign up email Carol Kelly at ckelly@chamberbloomington.org.

Thank you for helping to develop Bloomington's future workforce!
